Mock Tutor Privacy Policy

Mock Tutor Privacy Policy

Effective date: 29 September 2026

The Salty Pistachio LTD is responsible for the information described in this policy. Mock Tutor provides AI-supported 11+ practice for children under the supervision of a parent or carer.

A short explanation for learners

You can practise tests and writing in the app. If your parent agrees and you use the tutor, the app sends your voice and the work you choose to our AI service so it can help. Do not share your full name, address, school, passwords or private family information. You can stop a session at any time. Ask a parent if you want to delete your work or have a privacy question.

Information on your device

The app stores your chosen learner name or nickname, school year, subjects and tutor style. A real name is not required. Test answers, writing drafts, completed attempts and saved practice topics are stored on your device. Learning history is optional and off unless enabled. Device backups may include local app data according to your device settings. The app does not require a child’s email address or a separate online learner account.

Information sent for AI tutoring

With the parent’s permission, live voice, its text transcription, chosen learner context, selected questions, answers, writing and relevant learning context are sent to OpenAI through our service to generate tutoring responses. Photos and PDF pages you choose to review are processed for question reading or handwriting transcription. Select only material you have permission to share, and cover unnecessary personal details first. You can correct a handwriting transcription before sharing it for tutor feedback.

We do not make or retain raw audio recordings ourselves. Live audio is processed by OpenAI. OpenAI’s API data controls provide that API content is not used to train its models by default. Its service may retain abuse-monitoring information for up to 30 days, or longer where its policy or law permits; we do not promise zero retention. See OpenAI’s data controls. AI processing may take place outside the UK.

Our answer-verification service may keep reusable printed questions, verified answers and explanations where judged safe to reuse. This shared answer bank excludes learner answers, handwriting and learner identifiers. An explicitly activated, invitation-only quality pilot can separately retain text-based diagnostic session logs for seven days. Normal use does not activate that pilot.

Trial and subscription records

Apple handles purchases and payment details. We receive Apple-signed app download and subscription information, including an app-specific identifier, product, subscription status and expiry. We do not receive your payment-card number or Apple Account password. We use these records to provide a one-time ten-minute tutoring trial, restore access across devices, verify subscriptions and prevent repeated free trials. We retain a minimal app-specific trial-use record while operating this offer; deleting local learner data or reinstalling the app does not reset it. Short-lived session records support time limits and safe disconnection.

Service providers, purposes and legal grounds

Google Firebase and Google Cloud host and secure our service, including app attestation, access records and operational logs. Apple provides the App Store and purchase services. OpenAI processes the content needed for AI features. These providers may process IP addresses and technical device or service information. We do not sell personal information, serve advertising in the app, or use advertising tracking SDKs.

We process the parent’s purchase and service information to provide the requested service and perform our agreement with the parent. We request parental permission for sharing a child’s content with AI and for optional learning-history features. We rely on legitimate interests for proportionate security, fraud prevention and essential service operations, taking children’s interests into account, and on legal obligations where applicable. You may withdraw permission in Settings; this stops access to AI features unless permission is given again. Withdrawal does not affect earlier lawful processing.

Retention, deletion and your choices

Use Settings to delete learner data and local practice records or disable learning history. This does not cancel an Apple subscription or erase Apple’s transaction records. Manage subscriptions through your Apple Account. Minimal trial-use and purchase records may remain where needed to prevent abuse, establish entitlement or meet legal obligations. Service-provider logs and backups follow their applicable retention arrangements.

A parent or learner may contact us to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or to object to processing, where applicable. We may request proportionate information to locate the record and confirm authority. Do not email a child’s work unless necessary. UK users can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. International processing is subject to relevant contractual and legal safeguards; contact us for information about those safeguards.
