Still Journal Privacy Policy

The Salty Pistachio LTD (“Salty Pistachio”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) provides the Still Journal iOS application. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use Still Journal.
The short version
Still Journal is designed to be private and local-first. We do not operate a server that receives your journal entries, moods, captions, photos, profile details, prompts, places, or selected calendar events. We do not use advertising, analytics, or tracking technologies in the app, and we do not sell personal information.
Information stored on your device
The content you create in Still Journal is stored locally on your device. This can include:
- journal entries, notes, gratitude entries, prompts, and collection names;
- mood scores, dates, and places you choose to save;
- photos and captions you add to journal days; and
- profile details you choose to add in the About Me area.
We cannot view this content because it is not sent to Salty Pistachio servers. Depending on your Apple device settings, locally stored app data may be included in an Apple device backup. Apple controls and protects those backups under its own terms and privacy policy.
Device permissions
Still Journal asks for a device permission only when a related feature needs it:
- Photos and camera: to let you choose or capture images for your journal. Images added to a journal are stored with the app’s local data.
- Calendar: to display Apple Calendar events so you can choose which events to save as journal notes. Events you do not select are not copied into the journal.
- Notifications: to schedule the optional evening reminder at the time you choose. The notification does not contain journal content.
- Face ID, Touch ID, or device passcode: to unlock the app when App Lock is enabled. Authentication is handled by iOS; Still Journal does not receive or store biometric data or your passcode.
You can change these permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
Purchases and subscriptions
Premium subscriptions are purchased and managed through Apple’s App Store. Apple processes payment details and may provide the app with transaction and entitlement information needed to confirm whether Premium is active. Salty Pistachio does not receive your full payment card details or your journal content through this process. Apple’s handling of information is governed by Apple’s privacy policy.
Data collection, sharing, and tracking
Still Journal does not include third-party advertising or analytics software. We do not collect journal content, use it to profile you, share it with data brokers, or track you across apps and websites.
If you contact us for support, we will receive the information you choose to include in your message, such as your email address and support question. We use that information only to respond and keep it only as long as reasonably necessary for support and legal record-keeping.
Retention and deletion
You control the journal data stored by the app.
- Free users can view the newest 30 saved journal days. When the limit is reached and another new day is saved, the app warns that the oldest seven days will be deleted and removes those days and their locally stored journal photos.
- Premium users do not have an app-imposed journal-history limit while Premium remains active.
- The Delete all journal data control in Settings permanently removes journal entries and imported journal photos stored by the app.
- Deleting Still Journal removes its local app data from the device, subject to any backups controlled through your Apple account and device settings.
Because we do not hold your journal content on our servers, we cannot recover it after it has been deleted from the app or device.
Security
Still Journal uses protections provided by iOS and offers an optional App Lock. No method of storage is completely secure, so you should protect your device, keep iOS up to date, and maintain any backup you consider appropriate.
Children
Still Journal does not knowingly collect children’s personal information on Salty Pistachio servers. A parent or guardian should supervise a child’s use where required by applicable law.
International transfers
Your journal content is not transferred to Salty Pistachio servers. If you contact us for support, your message may be processed in the countries where our service providers and team operate, subject to applicable safeguards.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to Still Journal or applicable requirements. We will post the revised policy at this address and update the effective date above.
